New Musicals & songs for young children

Dinosaurs is a collection of Seven simple, fun songs with built in learning features designed for Key stage 1 children. The package includes a booklet with dinosaur information for the teacher, song words and a variety of puzzles relating to the topic. The songs by Judith Pankhurst are very simple to learn from the C.D with fully arranged instrumental backing tracks to enable performances both in the classroom and for the public.

The songs include a Prehistoric round (with all 4 tunes sung separately for practice), 'An ancient counting song', a 'days of the week' song ('The life of a King'), a ‘Gilbert and Sullivan style’ call and response song (‘A very Modern Dinosaur’) and 3 other songs about the history and evolution of dinosaurs.

The whole idea represents a very simple, fun way of learning linked to a topic that children love. Many schools have already found this an exciting and useful resource to have around the classroom and the fact that it can be used in so many ways makes it an ideal Key stage 1 package. Dinosaurs is available now through Musicline Publications.

This is a wonderfully imaginative story for young children with 6 lively songs that can be easily enjoyed and performed by a chorus of varying sizes. There are plenty of small parts for everyone in a class and the script contains a healthy portion of humour and fun. The songs are all fully orchestrated with a professional backing C.D which also includes a fully sung version of each track so that you can learn them easily.

This is the story of a good boy (Ben) who has accidentally broken his mothers prized ornament. She calls him a Little Monster and sends him out into the garden as a punishment. It is in Bens garden that all the other 'Little Monsters', 'Cheeky Monkeys', 'Terrible Twos' and 'Fidgets' appear having been given titles of their own and together they have to find a way to become children again.  Every now and again an innocent remark can take on a whole new meaning in a childs fantastic imagination and this is a story built around one of those occasions.

This is a simple tale of in the form of a poem with lively, fun songs added to spice up the performance. Every day objects (a boxing glove, a shower, a clothes horse, a micro wave, an iron and a water timer etc) become colourful characters as our hero searches through the house for a single blue sock that has gone missing.

In the search for the one blue sock we find that
life is much better being a pair and things are always where you put them". This is surely good advice for everyone. Additionally just being friends is all we ever need is another poetical messages, which would stand anyone in good stead. Everyone can join in the stampede and the search with their friends for new friends.

On the trail of the One Blue Sock finds different characters helping each other and being successful in their collective search. The chorus should perform alongside the action adding their voices to the plot and sharing the adventure.

Great tunes and a very interesting poetical presentation. The kids were soon singing along to the musical ideas. Anything that encourages friendship and putting things away,at the same time, cant be bad. Good luck.
